Hello-

I am working toward my goal of losing 100 pounds, and have lost 20 since January. I am pleased with the progress, but would like to look better in my clothes as I lose.

Where do you shop for flattering plus size clothes? What styles have you found that are most flattering on an apple shape with a big tummy and smaller legs? I am 5'8" and a size 20-22 right now depending on the brand.

Thanks!

My apple shape issue with clothes was mainly getting pants that fit. If the waist fit the butt and legs were too baggy.
What I found useful was fitting clothes to my smaller sized hips rather than my waist and getting things with a stretchy waistband or even maternity pants. There are maternity pants that do not look like maternity pants- side panel or low panel. If your shirt covers the waist you would not know they were different.
    Examples-

As I have lost I have not really had to buy new pants as the stretchy waist still fits fine and my hip/leg measurement has not changed much. That is kind of the bonus of the apple shape I guess.

Shirts I got to fit my bust measurement and hip length. That was loose enough over my belly area but not sloppy looking.
Some sites advise an empire waist top for the apple shape but I always felt those looked bad on me. V necks were good.

Personally, I've found Gwynnie Bee (https://closet.gwynniebee.com/) to be a life saver. I haven't had to invest in work clothes that I'd just have to give away when I size down (or buy again if slip and size back up). Plus you can experiment with different colors or styles. I've pulled together a really cute wardrobe over time without the stress of going to stores.

Torrid for jeans... high rise with flare or boot cut. (Their underware are good too.) Tops and dresses should be low cut (never strapless), tight through the bust, then flare just under the boobs. Never wear belts in any manner. Nothing should be too tight or too lose either. Apples usually have good boobs and/or good legs, so draw attention there. Personally, I attach a flashing neon sign to my chest that reads "look here"... it seems to work.

Interesting. How much is it once the free trial is up? Also wonder why they start at size 10.... Not purely plus size, but also not inclusive. Maybe smaller people tend to like to shop in public more??? I don't.

Oh and t-shirts will lie to you... Don't trust them. And just don't sit down... ever.

Try boohoo, I am more apple shaped and have ordered from them but I have watched countless youtube reviews and a lot of people love them.

I'm also apple shaped. I wear a lot of v neck tops, I have tried empire waist tops but I also think I look pg, and at age 46 that's not a look I want! I have started wearing more fitted pants, slim leg fit. I have found them to be very flattering but I also have trouble with fit the waist, baggy in the butt. Takes some searching for a good pant. Good luck!
