Attention Runners!

Anyone ever have any problems with raw skin on the bottom of your feet after a run?
Last night toward the end of my run, the ball of my right foot was extremely sore like there was a lot of friction on it from my sock/shoe/whatever. It caused me to limp the last 1/4 mile. lol.
When I got home I checked my foot and it's basically just really raw . Anyone else ever have this problem? Is it a shoe problem? Sock problem? I can barely walk on it today. Needless to say, no run for me today :( Argh!

Oh no! I've never had this problem but i've heard of others having it. I would suggest getting a better paid of socks. I've read that cotton socks aren't good for runners because it causes lots of friction. There are running/shoe stores that sell specific socks for running. Maybe try those! Or lotion up your feet before you run :)

Sounds like your foot is sliding in the shoe. Could be a poor-fitting shoe. The socks probably aren't the main issue but the wrong socks will make the foot slippage worse on your skin. Make sure you are wearing good synthetic running socks like Thorlo or Feetures brands. Get your shoes fitted at a running store if you haven't already. Maybe try lock lacing:

Thanks guys! I did a bit of reading last night and I remember seeing that cotton socks aren't great for running...and that's all I wear. Time to invest in some running socks! It's just weird because I never really ran into this problem before....(haha...ran). And I just bought brand new Asics in March-ish, so I'm hoping that's not the problem. If so, maybe I can get some inserts for them.

Thanks for the help guys! And the lock-lacing tip!! :)
