Spinach

Here's a goofy question. If you take 4 cups of baby spinach and sautee it, what you end up with is about a half a cup of sauteed spinach. Are you eating 4 cups of spinach or a half a cup?

4 cups of spinach. It's the same as taking 40g of dry oats, then mixing it with water and microwaving. It might end up weighing more, but it's still 40g of oats and it's still the same amount of calories.0

I don't like measuring food by volume because for reasons you stated, it's not consistent. I use a food scale for everything. I measure almost everything in grams then I crosscheck the calories with the USDA database (all foods are based off 100g there). This way I can avoid all the inaccurate MFP entries in the database too. MFP database is great but there's a lot of junk in there that isn't realistic.0
