Are there any threads on confidence before our goals are reached?

Hi all. I have been looking around MFP trying to find a thread or a source about building confidence/rejecting shame as we are right now. (As opposed to strictly dreaming of someday when...) I so often feel myself trying to posture to hide things or avoiding photos and situations. I know I'm not the only one who does this. My goal is whole health: physical and internal. Are there any motivational resources to read on this topic here? Does anyone have any book suggestions? (I am reading and enjoying Brene Brown's books on imperfection.) I wasn't sure how to find this without posting the question, so thank you for any tips!

I'm not sure about posts here. But if you are on Facebook, check out Kelly Robert's Run, selfie, repeat or her podcast. I know the topic seems like running, but she is more about fitness and moving away from shame. She gained a bunch of weight after her brother passed away and she worked hard to lose the weight by running and figuring out her sorrow.2

If you are religious there is a ton of "I'm the daughter of a king" style stuff that can be really beautiful and inspiring. I've found (as a non believer) tons of talks by religious people addressing shame and letting it go because you are forgiven through grace (a very wonderful concept for me). But otherwise Brene Brown is great, as well as Jen Sincero's you are a bada** book. I've found a lot of help by finding authors or clinicians who specialize in the thing you are shameful or less confidant about. Geneen Roth is an eating/eating behavior person who is great, SARK is a great gentle, creative author who helps to foster gentleness with yourself as well as creativity. But outside of books and information, I've had the best luck in turning around my criticism/bolstering self esteem through practicing behaviors that show my brain that I value my body. Selfcare, skincare, massages, nails, etc. For some people this can be a problem, but for me, it made me feel more valued because I was spending time and money on my body. My body that I had a difficult relationship with. For me, it started with pedicures and manicures and met in the middle of my body to make a whole valued entity. Good luck with this! It takes daily attention.2

Thanks so much, theowlbox! I had heard of the "You are a Bad*" book but had forgotten about it. I hadn't heard of the others. Your comment is really helpful. I appreciate your taking time to answer.1

Hey! I just got an email from The School of Life (I get their e newsletter) and it was a link to a career they sell about confisence. You don't need the cardset but it is great about breaking down the recipe for confidence and it also suggests some videos on Youtube to help you start out. Here is a link to the e newsletter, but see how it strikes you. http://us5.campaign-archive2.com/?u=ac2881538168a724cf44bca81&id=9bb62acafc&e=8ceae58d411
