Does anyone use one or two drops of wild orange essential oil to their water? Any feedback? I heard it helps with your metabolism

To drink? I don't think it's meant to be ingested.

Yes, was reading around and lot of people say to use a drop or two in their water, tea, smoothies or even cooking. So was wondering. Those oils are new for me. But I'm open to new things6

Hey guys I'm new and I'm trying to lose weight could I have some help5

DoTerra is your typical pyramid sales scheme - like tupperware. They are overpriced and try and claim miracle benefits with little to no medical support or research. Your metabolism is the rate of which your body burns fuel to keep you alive - like how cars get different mileage. Essential oils would not have a noticeable (if any) effect on it.
I'd skip the sales pitch and the overpriced oils (which have a huge controversy over if it's even safe to drink) and invest in something that has a high chance of helping your goal - like a food scale.33 -
I love essential oils. I have a cupboard full. I put tea tree oil on to my floor cloths, lime oil on to my toilet brush. Lavendar near my bed and a whole host of others on cotton pads on the back of radiators when I turn them on, all sorts of things.
But to ingest them? No. Nothing speeds metabolism except exercise. It is something someone has made up to sell you something.15 -

Noooo! essential oils are not meant to be ingested. Some can actually really hurt you and potentially kill you.5 -
Essential oils are not meant to be consumed. Might as well eat an orange anyway.9
-
It smells really nice but is not good to consume. Instead put some in your unsented liquid soap and drink the water plain. Nothing changes your base metabolism except decrease fat and build muscle or aging.4
-
I might add essential oils to my bath water or massage oil to make it smell nice, but I wouldn't drink it. Won't do a thing for your metabolism, and some oils are poisonous if ingested. A few slices of a REAL orange is refreshing in a pitcher of water, and might make you want to drink more. Do THAT instead!9

Thanks everyone.0

When products say that they significanty increase your metabolism it's a bold face untrue statement. Or an illegal drug.
If something like that worked two things happen. There is no obesity left on the planet and someone became incredibly rich. When you see obesity disappear you can still buy the product.1 -
Doterra and young living have gotten warning letters from the government for untrue claims.
And you aren't supposed to ingest essential oils.9 -
I use doTERRA Lemon oil and Slim & Sassy blend in my water throughout the day. It has made a noticeable difference in my digestive health as well as in my metabolism. I notice I feel lighter and more energy throughout the day and the lemon is known to help boost the health of the liver and kidneys. I am a big fan of these healing tools and invite others to explore them as well. Slim & Sassy blend is also available in capsules for those who aren't interested in adding to water. Food-grade essential oils are 100% approved for internal use - be worried about synthetics and NOT the gifts that Mother Nature has to offer! #TheHealingHippie
There is no such thing as food grade (or therapeutic grade) essential oils. That's a bunch of garbage DoTerra and Young Living and the like made up to sell more. Essential oils are essential oils. They don't come in grades recognized by any third party or regulatory authority.
Mother Nature also gave us Pulegone, the insect repellent component in Pennyroyal, which is lethal when ingested, especially in the concentrations found in its essential oil, and that has nothing to do with its "grade" and everything to do with the plant.
Essential oils are highly concentrated and don't contain the other parts of the plant that can counteract the more harmful components (if it has any). If you're going to ingest herb based products, it's better to do things like cooking and making tea with the consumable parts of the plants as a whole. Infuse your water with ginger root, citrus peel, cinnamon, and peppermint and you get even more bang for your buck, without the risks of ingesting the essential oil by itself.10 -
You know what's delicious and saves lots of money and isn't a marketing gimmick? The line of Zinger herbal teas from Celestial Seasonings.
They have a Lemon and a Tangerine flavor. They make a great between meal beverage that's zero calorie and you can get them at most supermarkets.
My favorites flavor is the Red Zinger.
I'm not sure that the herbs contain miniscule amounts of something "essential", but whatever they do or don't contain, they're tasty, zero calorie, and make no spurious claims.8 -

I think I will buy some of these teas. I see them at the store all the time. I get bored having water with every meal.1 -

I would call woo on the metabolism increase. But, there are essential oils in many things. Candy canes, citrus flavoured candy, etc. Nobody is gonna die from some oil that came from the peel of an orange.

The only people who will ever tell you that essential oils are safe to ingest either sell them or are thinking about starting to sell them. Miraculously, only their brand is pure enough to ingest, even though it isn’t impurities that make EOs unsafe in the first place; it’s the oils themselves.
None of the above is coincidental.6 -

Extracts and oils aren’t the same as essential oils.5 -
The hippie homemaker says "There is certainly a place in aromatherapy for ingestion, but just like any powerful synthetic pharmaceuticals, essential oils should be ingested with caution and for only very short periods of time, under the guidance of a certified aromatherapist.Feb 26, 2015"
My sister-in-law is my age and slim. She has been slim all her life. She doesn't need the money. She thinks essential oils are all that. It's a good thing my brother has good sense.4 -

I live essential oils as well. I also do not ingest them.
Furthermore, I stay far away from MLMs like Young Living. Knew someone who used to sell for them.4 -

That's what's great about the herbal teas I recommended. Between meal pick-me-up and no MLM needed without any need to worry about whether or not they're actually safe to ingest. And they're loads cheaper too.
I am posting partly tongue in cheek here, but really, if you want a drink between meals with some flavor, just get the water flavor enhancers or drink herbal tea. Essential oils are a marketing gimmick to part you with cash and not meant for consumption.
I do like the smell of lavender oil. I use it to scent the facial oil wash I make for myself.3 -
The pyramid scheme essential oils promote ingesting essential oils only because it makes you use them up faster and put more $$$$$ in the top of the pyramid. It’s dangerous and there’s no reason to do it. I once ate brownies made with peppermint essential oil (didn’t know when I took a bite) and it burned the *kitten* out of my throat. Put fruit slices in your water or drink La Croix if you want flavor.6

I completely forgot about these! Very enjoyable teas. Thanks for the reminder.0 -
By what mechanism could it do that, exactly?0
