GAINED?! Portion control?

I have been on my fitness journey a long while and eat a balanced healthy and clean diet. I am on a 1,380 a day caloric goal. Every day I make sure I fall below to create a deficit (between 200-450 below!), whilst working out multiple times a week and having smaller meals.

HOWEVER, my weight has not shifted in weeks and sometimes I weigh and it shows I have GAINED up to 3-4more lbs! It feels impossible and all my hard work and willpower isn't paying off???

Only possible outcome is that I am not measuring my portions as accurately as thought...any portion tips for someone who doesn't have access to a scale?

Feeling so frustrated and confused today (also feeling bloated and chubby and I refuse to weigh myself for a few days lol)

Your deficit is already built in to the 1380. Eat to your goal. Buy a scale - they are cheap and its the best thing you can do to meet your goals.

Aiming to hit 450 below 1380 is really not smart. Regardless, you're obviously eating way more than that since you're not losing.

Why can't you pick up a $10 food scale and weigh all your food?

Over in the U.K. A simple scale is about £20 and I am strapped for cash at the moment unfortunately...

Would 15 be doable? I notice Marks & Spencer online has a few in that range. http://www.marksandspencer.com/l/home-and-furniture/cookware/kitchen-scales

ASDA have an own brand for £7 at the moment. I think under £10 is pretty common for supermarket own brands but you might be able to get one for free by asking your Facebook friends if anyone has one that they are not using?

My latest one was £8 at Tesco and has been very good.

Since you aren't losing, and instead seem to be gaining, it's not likely that your calorie estimates are correct. Whatever you ARE eating isn't creating a deficit. Hopefully you can get that scale and get more accurate with your intake.

If your goal is 1380, you shouldn't be going below that. You already have a deficit built in at 1380. You say you work out a lot. You do need fuel for recovery and repair. Dropping down below 1000 calories (which happens when you take off an additional 400) is not a healthy way to do this. When you do get your scale, try to hit your goal calories, and not go a lot below that. And make sure you are getting adequate protein! :)

Im pretty sure everyone stalls at certain points.. "trust the process" and poop it out. Even if youre active switching your settings to "no activity"might boost the process.

Sounds to me like you're not weighting yourself every day and recording your weight trend in a trending weight app. Normal hormonal fluctuations can make your water weight change by multiple lbs overnight, while changes to your fat levels are smaller and get hidden in the fluctuations.

I brought a food scale off eBay for $6 (Australian) with free postage.
I'm not sure why you would eat that far under your calorie allowance. If I did I wouldn't have the energy to even visit mfp.
