Wearing a knee brace while running and swimming?

I have one knee that I over extended a few years back, and it's been a little touchy ever since. Running too much can make it worse, so I just try to take it slow. I love to swim, but it seems that every time I swim, I end up twisting it, and making it worse. Would wearing a knee brace help that?

Have you seen a physio to see if you can strengthen it?0

I'd speak to a physiotherapist rather than self treating. If you screw up your knee more badly you're snookered.
I'd avoid breast stroke in the pool.0 -

This. Don't put a random brace on any injury. Let a medical professional tell you what, if anything would be appropriate.
Best of luck0 -
I've not heard of wearing a knee brace in the pool. You might need one that will tolerate the water and chlorine.
Physio should be able to give you therapeutic exercises to do in the pool if regular strokes don't work well.0 -
It would be lake and creek more than pool. I don't really have access to a physiotherapist.0

if you have an injury- you should make yourself get access. Knees are really important. If it's injured- you need to speak to a professional.1 -
As previous posters had said you need to see an orthopedic surgeon and a physical therapist to determine what's wrong with your knee and a proper course of treatment. You could really screwed up bad by just trying to figure it out yourself1
