Why do it?

So, I finished Insanity on Friday. I'm taking this week as a rest week (by rest, I mean some yoga and X stretch), then I'm starting a P90X/Insanity hybrid on Monday. I've lost 20 lbs, and fit into most of my old clothes. I also scored the highest I ever have on my physical training test for work. However, I don't really care. I see no other benefits other than extending my career for another year. I think about food all the time. I hate not being able to go to a fast food joint because of the guilt, or going and having the guilt. I hate weighing the options at a restaurant based on calories, as opposed to what I want to eat for taste. I love Pepsi, and want more than my two can a day allowance. I hate the taste of artificial sweeteners, so Crystal Light, Mio, and diet soda are out. I searched through the threads, and found others have the same issue of nobody noticing the weight loss. So I can wear some smaller clothes; so what? I'm just really torqued, antsy, and tired. Sorry for the rant:(

Why do it? Because you want to still be able to have your 2 Pepsis a day when you are 43yo instead of having health issues that prevent that. I'm diabetic (type 2), have high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I control everything with diet and exercise. I become almost unable to function when I don't watch what I eat and do. Considering how bad artificial sweetners are for you maybe it's a good thing that you don't like them.
Whatever the case, hang in there. Your body will thank you later.0 -
Retrain your taste buds, break the sugar addiction! It is entirely possible to get great taste and flavor with out lots of calories! Whole foods are best but if you do eat out, do so in moderation! Stay under your macros and exercise and the weight will come off! I didn't have a pepsi habit, mine was sweet tea! Almost a gallon a day! I quit drinking it, tried some a while back, and now I can't stand it! It tastes like the sugar water my mom makes for her humming birds. Your tastes will adapt, and it is so important to your health. I know you've probably heard all this before but I wanted to try and be supportive. I've been there. The difference in how you look and feel is worth it!0

perhaps try some new types of foods? there is an entire world of foods with thousands of dif plants and many dozens of obtainable meats there is no need to have such a small tiny idea of taste in the culinary world!
why not try a goat tagine, lamb curry with parsnips or go all out and have some steamed mediterranean baby octopus done in its own juice served and this is the tiniest tip of the iceberg.0 -
Because my Mom has been diagnosed with diabetes and if I don't change I will be too.0

Speaking from experience... a lot of people DO notice, but don't say anything for fear of offending you. "Are you losing weight? ... I mean, not that you needed to... Are you doing it on purpose, or have you been sick? ... Wait, you don't look sick... You look great! Hm, ah, not that you didn't look good before... you know... uh, so, ummm..."#awkwardsilence
I went from an uncomfortably snug size 14 down to a comfy-in-most-cuts size 8 in six months. Most people didn't say anything until the time I wore cargo shorts to a meeting, and even then they were tentative. But my knees, hips, and feet noticed the difference right away.... and my back and arms noticed how much easier it was to push, pull, lift, tug, and carry stuff. That's well worth it.
Hang in there.0
