Counting calories burned

Good Morning. Everyone! So...I work in the medical field and I walk...a lot! For a while I was counting my steps and the calories burned. Recently I read an article that say you do not count these as calories burned but as a baseline for how many calories you should take in when considering weight loss as the lifestyle variable. How true is this? I am also looking for some motivational and accountability friends. Please add me

The truth is it doesn't matter. You can count them as part of your activity level, or you can count them as something extra; what both of those approaches have in common is counting them.0

I think what they're saying is that this is a normal daily thing and that you should include that activity in your activity level and I would intend to agree with that. For example, a sedentary activity level is going to account for up to about 3,000 steps...and so on and so forth. If you counted those steps and logged them and got additional calories, you'd be double dipping.1 -
If you don't put them into your basic activity level, and then count them, then you're not double dipping.0

So I understand what they are saying, and I wouldnt count this as calories burned. I would use this as your baseline of calories burned throughout the day and to calculate your bmr. I would count extra things like going to the gym or playing a sport1

TDEE, not BMR. BMR is what your body burns just to live.
OP, this should be a part of your activity level, unless you have an activity tracker that you can connect and sync to MFP.0
