Starting Again

I fell off the wagon, I've eaten an irresponsible number of calories for the past 5 days.
I was on a great streak and my husband suggested that we go to dinner at a buffet, I guess it triggered the eating spree. So, here we go, starting again on Friday. I had been on plan for about 5 weeks, so not that long. I kept thinking of posts I've seen here, especially, "Don't do anything to loose weight that you are not willing to do forever." I have struggled with creating an eating plan for my family that I am happy with, and I am realizing that its simple, don't try to go too far in any direction. Eat, and don't obsess over 'success' or 'failure' of a meal.
So, here we go again and I am desperate to hear from others who are feeding their families while loosing weight, ideas? Resources? Friend requests? All welcome. Thank you.
P.S. I'm 5'3" and currently 168, GW is 145. MFP has me eating 1,550 cal/day. I am breastfeeding a 9 month old and I exercise 1/wk playing competitive indoor volleyball (which I totally love, hoping to add another day of competitive indoor soccer)

I'm not cooking for my family but I have had problems when I go over to my in-laws. There's just so much yummy food! I now make an effort to take a small portion and not be the first to go back for seconds, and to try dessert but not finish it. I also work on mindfully eating, or eating when hungry and stopping when satisfied.
Many of us have been conditioned to eat what's on our plates. Also, many of us think that we really have to eat free food, and all of it. The reality is that portion control is portion control, and if you master that you'll be able to eat at home or out.1 -
I'm impressed at your insightfulness, those are things I'm having trouble with, but not what I mentioned outright.0
