Healthy Fats

Would like informed opinions on this: how strict should one be with consumption of healthy fats if weight loss is occurring? I'm asking because I'm always over my fat gram allowance but I eat healthy fats like avocado, EVOO, nuts, seeds, etc. Has anyone seen consistent success but at the same time just eating whatever healthy fat?

    The total fat recommendation on mfp is a minimum amount. The Saturated fat amount is the one they suggest restricting.

    So long as you remain under your calorie goal, you will continue to lose weight. There are people losing weight doing low fat diets and losing, there are people doing keto and losing on very high fat.

    I eat "healthy" and likely unhealthy fat every day - my goal is between 65 and 76g - nuts are a great way (mmm, almonds); I started buying yogurt that had some fat in it etc

    Exactly. Only caveat is that it's easy, relatively speaking, to go into a surplus if there's a lot of fat in your diet. 1g protein = 4 calories. Ditto 1g carb. Fat? 9 calories. Now, to get some perspective, one tsp of olive oil is 40 calories. It's not 'nothing' but it's not as if an extra teaspoon here or there is going to really hurt your weight loss. But if you're eating a lot of shallow-fried foods (I have some recipes that tell you to 'pour an inch of oil into a 10" skillet' or list in the ingredients '1 cup oil for frying; more if needed'), even if you're frying in healthy oils like olive or avocado... the calories are going to mount up significantly.
