Hi all,
I set my bike to zero and started to workout on it, i am just starting off but am going quite fast, so I did 15 minutes and the Calories burned were 418, is this really right ?.. Is this possible ? or is the machine wrong?
totally confused.

418 calories burned in 15 minutes is just insane. And sadly, I can't imagine it being anywhere close to accurate.
Using the MFP database (set up for my 84kg, 170cm person), I get between 110 and 140 cals for 15 minutes (and even that strikes me as somewhat highish). On the bikes in the gym I go to (equipped with powermeters) I tend to get between 70 and 80 on a medium resistance at which I can keep a conversation going if it doesn't get too technical.
Little side question: 'setting the bike to zero' means what exactly? You set the resistance to 0? In this case, even with going quite fast, those 418 are just sheer impossible.1 -
The machine is horribly wrong!
Possible in the sense there are a few individuals who may be able to create that kind of power but you would probably be competing in the Tour de France if you were one of them.
As an example of a non-elite but regular cyclist (500 miles a month) with a high fitness level "going quite fast" for me would be about 180 cals in 15 minutes.2 -
The machine is wrong. On a stationary bike, I burn somewhere between 150 and 200 calories (based on Watts produced) in that time period, depending on what kind of workout I'm putting in. If I really push it, I might burn 250 in fifteen minutes, but I would be hurting afterward. For a smaller person "just starting out" I would expect the calorie burn to be significantly less than that.1

Agree with the others. At 0 resistance ... maybe, just maybe, it might be 418 cal/hour, or in other words about 100 cal for 15 min.1

I would says it's incorrect. I can't get 400 calories on my elliptical even when SPRINTING in 15 minutes! And I would think that the elliptical is a bit more calorie intense.
Maybe it didn't reset to zero?1 -
Thank you guys i agree with you, when i meant Zero as meaning that i cleared what was on the data from when my son used it, so just cleared what was there before, but i do agree its totally not right this is why i asked. thank you0

Going at near maximum effort for an hour would probably yield around 700-1000 calories for me and I weigh 220lbs.0

You might double check how much you told it you weigh.1
