Should cutting your calories be a gradual process? eg. Eat maintenance calories for a week and decrease your calories by 350 day for a week etc. until your reach a goal like losing 1kg week or 2 pounds.

Depends on how many calories you are cutting. If you are going from 3500 to 1500 I think it would be extremely helpful for long-term success to cut in 500 calorie increments as you learn what foods will and won't work for you and your caloric needs. A lot of people quit because it is too much too soon so for some doing it gradually will be beneficial while for other maybe not so much.0

I do the opposite of this when adding back my calories after eating at a large deficit. I am upping my calories 100-300 -little by little and after doing this for several weeks, I actually went down a couple pounds. Same workout program as I've always done and eating the same foods I've always eaten. Yay, Me! Not sure how this helps with a deficit lol0
