my kid noticed my weight...

3 times yesterday my 8 year old commented on my weight. He didn't mean to hurt my feelings and once he figured out he did he said "so mom, how much have you lost since you started at the gym?"- *sigh* This morning I opened my MFP and knew I needed to track everything.

I'm there with you. My 5 year old girl is drawing pictures of us together, and in every picture she draws a huge belly on me. She doesn't mean anything by it but that's how she sees me. My goal is to change how she remembers me5

There's a whole psychology to how kids draw their parents, so whether you have a big belly or not, that drawn belly is big because it's important to how she thinks about you--not necessarily a literal depiction.
That's not saying you shouldn't change if you don't like whatever you have going on, only that she probably exaggerates it in for other, sweeter reasons.0
