Been sick for a week with a cold....would like to get back to the gym even though I'm still not 100%...will working out make me worse? Better? Thoughts anyone?

Yes and no one at the gym wants your germs.

I always do light cardio while sick. Sometimes it helps me feel better.

If you have "more than a cold" then bedrest is best.

As the other poster said though, stay out of the gym if you're contagious, cardio/exercise at home or outside.

I am no longer contagious and diligent about disinfecting any equipment I use at the gym...but I did decide to walk outside for a few days before going back to my gym to be sure. Ty for the input!

I have found a walk outside to be very therapeutic when I have a cold. It seems to get the toxins out.

If you aren't coughing and sneezing everywhere, I don't see the problem with you going to the gym. If you're vomiting, have something like strep or the flu, no, don't go; however, a little head cold is no big deal. I had walking pneumonia in October. Had to take five days off, but hit the gym as soon as I was no longer feverish and lethargic. It was one of my best workouts, to be honest. Quite frankly, I'd rather see someone at the gym who has a cold than watch some completely well person sweat and get their stank all over a bench and then not wipe it down when they are finished with it. Just listen to your body. Take it easy and if you need to take longer rest periods, do so.
