Body Fat % vs. Weight

Ok, I'm trying to decide what my goal weight should actually be. I'm on the taller side of 5'6" and Originally I put my goal at 145 because that's the last time I really remember feeling fit and healthy. I'm currently 176 and just had my body fat measured (using calipers) at 25%, I know they tend to underestimate a bit so I'm calling it 26.5%. When I calculate my lean body mass it's 129 leaving me around 47lbs of fat. Using my LBM and an ideal bf% of 17, my goal weight becomes 155. I'm trying to keep my protein high enough to avoid losing LBM, so should I change my goal weight to 155 or should I keep it at 145 because some LBM loss should be expected when eating a calorie deficit?

I am 5'6" and I weigh 129, I have had my bodyfat tested at under water way and it was %16 , so it will just be what weight you feel good at, I like to stay on the leaner side myself, if you can find at place that does the underwater testing that is the best most accurate way to test..

Probably best to just use the mirror but since we all have to pick a "goal" weight here is a calculator that might be helpful.

Problem is that most methods of measuring body fat are really not very accurate. The can give you a ballpark though.

    Good luck.

Yeah, it's what your body feels comfortable at. You are likely going to LBM because of the deficit, but keep the protein high to help rebuild the muscles so you don't lose as much.

I am 5'6 . I try not to focus on numbers but I tend to feel sexiest at 122 to 125.

See how you feel when you get to 155. You may be happy and decide to stay there, or reassess and decide if a few more lbs would be better for you.

I don't even have a goal weight. I have an ideal look that I am going for. I will weigh myself when I get there and use that weight as my goal to stay at while maintaining.

I think it is important to NOT get caught up in numbers. Myself and Sarauk2sf were talking about that this morning. When I am a size 6, I weigh between 135-140. When she wears size 6, she weighs 150-155. We are the same height. At 150 pounds, I was wearing a 16 getting close to an 18...

    ^^^ THIS

Don't fixate on the numbers, see how things look/feel at 155. :flowerforyou:
