Hi. I am 5'9" and 220. Looking for 2lbs per week loss. I have have trouble getting over the hump after the first big water weight loss and seeing progress slow. Any advice to getting thru the first slow down? Drop calories or other strategies?

Thx, Jon

Just know that your body is "catching up" and that you will have a bit of a slump after the first week.

    Be patient.

Deep breathing. Working on your patience muscles. :)

If you drop calories every single time your progress slows, you're quickly going to run out of room to drop.

How many pounds are you losing per week? Can you define exactly what you mean by "seeing progress slow?" It's perfectly normal for the body to sometimes take a bit of time after the first big water weight drop.

Today is actually day one. I am anticipating a quick water weight loss coupled with actual weight loss in the first couple of weeks. I want to break thru that and keep it going. I get trapped at about 210 and lose patience as you guys point out. Just thought having a strategy to change things up at the end of water weight loss to get me thru might help. Thx. Jon

Oh, I see. You're anticipating this happening, so you're asking for strategies.

I would just stay patient. The weight you lose in the beginning will be a mixture of water weight and fat, so I wouldn't worry too much about distinguishing between the two. There will be times when your weight loss will slow down and that's perfectly normal and okay. Just stay on plan, you got this.
