Freezing shredded chicken breasts

Do any of you do this? I just did a large batch of crockpot plain shredded chicken breasts, separated them into 6 oz portions in ziplock bags (I eat 3 oz portions at a time) and put them straight in the freezer. Once you put a frozen portion in the fridge how long is it good for? And also how long is the shredded chicken good in the freezer? Although I'm sure I'll go through it within the next 2 weeks....Just curious. Thanks!

I do it all the time! I try to use within 4 days in the fridge(cuz I'm paranoid of food poisoning) but I'll keep it in the freezer 2 weeks but I'm sure its safe beyond0

It'll keep for a few months in the freezer. I generally put it in the fridge the night before I plan to use it. I generally pair the chicken with pasta (You can drop a frozen portion in the water and boil it with the noodles) or use it for wraps with some ranch sauce.

Pretty sure my mom has kept.meat in the frige Ike that for 6mo to a year. I have some in my freezer that's been there a couple months, and it's still fine.0 -
It's safe to eat from the freezer, forever. It probably taste best if you eat it within a few months certainly less than a year.0

It won't spoil in the freezer, although the quality might degrade after a year or so. It will keep in the fridge at least a week, assuming your fridge is kept below 40 degrees F.0

Use freezer bags, not storage bags, and squeeze as much air out of the bag as possible for zipping shut. (This is for reducing frost on the food, which leads to loss of quality/best taste.)1

Freeze them whole and shred them later. They will last longer in the freezer. I use a Food Saver vacuum sealer.0
