Tips and advice ?

I am obese and have a lot to lose. So far I have lost about 30 in 2 1/2 months with healthier eating and exercise. I seem to be loosing it in my legs first but would think I'd be down pant sizes by now. I know eventually it will happen but I would love to see a difference in waist and stomach. Just curious if anyone has any advice on exercises that could help. For those who have lost a lot of weight already, when do you remember seeing a change? Right now I work out 4-5 times a week. I walk usually 2 1/2- little over 3 miles on the treadmill which takes about an hour and about 35 min of the equipment for building muscle. Also, intake extra walks on some days adding an additional couple miles.

Keep with what you're doing. As long as you're ensuring you're in a calorie deficit, you'll lose weight. Just a note, though, you aren't going to be building much, if any, muscle, but doing some form of strength training is still a great idea.

Sounds like you're doing great! I understand your impatience to see a difference in your clothes. It will come! I'm down 40 pounds over 4 months. At first, I saw a difference in my knees, upper arms, shoulders/neck, and back. And also my stomach, but not enough to change pant sizes. Then, just in the last month, I started losing off my hips and thighs and waist, and had to put my size 18s away and bring out the 16s I stored a few years ago. It was exciting and gratifying.

I know it will happen for you soon too! Just keep enjoying all the new habits you're creating and keep focusing on how much better you feel. One of the best side-effects of eating right, for me, is that it restores my hope for the future. Keep believing in the process.

Seems like you lost quite a bit at the face and hips! (:

Just look at the angle hip to waist. Are you measuring as well? If not, do it! :D

Tips, hmmm tbh just stick with calories and stay positive! Take a day and up the calories a little before getting frustrated.

Personally didnt really notice till people pointed it out, but yeah belly and legs seem to be the slowest areas for me. Lost around the face, collar bones, arms and such first. I probably lost around the other areas too except I didnt measure, which is such a regret for me personally!

    Keep on going strong! (:

It could have been that you started out with your pants being tighter than you realized and it's only a matter of a few more pounds before your get down to the next size. I've also heard many people on here say that the larger the pant size, the more weight it takes to change sizes. So it might take 40 pounds to get down one size now, but then only 30 pounds, then 20 pounds, and so on.

Contrary to what the fitness industry would have you believe, no exercise will dictate where the weight comes off from. Exercise will build and tone muscles, but genetics decides how and where to deplete the fat stores. Keep doing a great job!

I've been fortunate. I've only lost 25 pounds so far, but I got to the point where my jeans were falling off already. For what it's worth, the exercise I've been doing (infrequently) is weightlifting (arms/chest dumbbell exercises), elliptical (better for my knees than treadmill), and riding my bike now that the weather's getting nicer.

Thank you everyone! The gray pants I am wearing in the pic literally used to cling to every part of my legs and now as you can see just hang. I'm very happy with the progress and I know it will be a slow process of getting it all off as I didn't gain it overnight. I am very positive in knowing that by continuing what I am doing... the weight has to go some where lol guess I'm just anxious to be able to say I'm a size smaller. All my jeans fit more comfortably on my butt and hips but so lose on my legs. Maybe they stretched and I was actually bigger than that size? I know this weight is coming off and staying off for good this time. When I first tried the elliptical, after 30 seconds, it was killing my knees (arthritis in both) but I have been pushing through as I've been loosing a little more at a time and now I'm up to 8 minutes... not much but it's progress and I do an hour on the treadmill now when I used to do 35/40 min. Then with having a little one, I get out and push her in her stroller on nice days so I'm def feeling soooo much better these days and a lot more energy. Congrats on the weight loss wolfger!!! I used to say I only lost this and that but when you look up pics of just how much fat 25 lbs is.... it's a lot to have off your body!!! I first saw the amount for 5 lbs and was like oh wow and I then looked up pics of the amount I have lost so far.... so be Very proud and keep up the work!!g8jyv0glejdw.png

Another thing that I hope helps you is the fact that larger sizes have more difference between them. When I was wearing a size 24/26 it took 40 or so lbs to make enough difference to go down a size. Now I'm a size 12 all it takes is 5lbs to need to up a size! I think clothing manufacturers build extra wiggle room into the larger sizes. You're doing the right things though, so you'll see the difference soon enough!

Thank you for the encouragement! I'm in a 26 now but I haven't been below that since before I was even pregnant with my last child so it's a big milestone for me

You're doing awesomely! Don't get hung up on what size you are, it's all BS anyway. Just wear what makes you happy and don't worry about the numbers.

Awesome work there Ria! You can see the difference in those pictures you posted. B)

I started at 115kg and was a size 48/50 (EU sizes, so about 18/20 US?). Theoretically, I needed one size up, but my head wasn't willing to accept that (I see it now when I look at the pictures). So it took a felt eternity until my clothing size started to drop - a good 15kg had to go until the 46s were comfy enough to wear. Now, I'm losing sizes like crazy. In some cases, after 30kg lost, I already fit into 40s...

So just keep going one day at a time. You'll suddenly find yourself standing in front of your wardrobe thinking 'I have nothing to wear and look like a clown' because it's all too big and you feel uncomfortable, swimming in miles of fabrics. That first intermediate shopping spree was the best!
