So my MyFitnessPal does not consider laundry or yard work exercise. However it does consider playing the guitar in a rock band as exercise.

Evidently they never had to weed a yard of Johnson grass. Now that's a workout!

I log gardening all the time - it's a great workout.

Exercise has a wide definition by many people.

I wouldn't consider laundry as exercise ... even though I do not have a dryer and have to hang everything. That's just part of my normal sedentary life.

The only time I've counted housework as exercise is when we had just recently moved into our house and I spent the whole evening cleaning and moving boxes and unpacking and lifting and carrying and walking. I think I was at it for roughly 4 hours, and counted it as 1 hour of housework.

If I did gardening, I might count it in a similar way as the evening of housework.

I log gardening, lawn mowing, and certain household projects (drywall hanging, blacktop sealing, etc.) fairly regularly. Based on my research heavy yard work and gardening are about the same. If you google a question like "how many calories do you burn doing yard work" you should find some good sites that can give you an estimation of what you are burning and then you can create your own exercise on MFP. I do not count things like laundry as they are part of my daily life.

I wash clothes often enough that I don't consider it exercise. *shrug*

Gardening and cleaning are in the database, or you can just use a pedometer, fitbit, or app to track steps to adjust your allowed calories. :)
