Ideal weight?

My goal was to get within my BMI but recently I've heard the BMI system is archaic and old... So, how do I figure out what I should weigh? I'm 28, female, 5"1 and currently 146

I would go by body fat percentage, as described here.

Do you mean to get your weight within the "healthy" range of the BMI chart? I think that is a reasonable range, even if it is a bit archaic. You might also want to look at BF%. BMI chart doesn't account for people who are extremely muscular. When you have a very high muscle to fat ratio, you may have a higher BMI, but it doesn't mean you are "fat". Body builders will sometimes be in the overweight or obese category of BMI, even though their body fat is low, just because their muscle weighs so much.0

I read that your waist should be no more than half your height... Is that more accurate?0

Just did the thing and figured out my body fat %...... It says I'm in the middle of the healthy range..... The BMI thing says I'm still 14lbs over.... And the height/waist ratio thing says I'm a little over by like an inch.......... Which should I go by??0

Go by body fat %, it is a much better measure of what kind of shape you are in.0

Find out lean body weight. Then decide how much body fat % you'd like to be. Then use the formula
Lean body mass/ 1 minus desired body fat %
So say you're 100lbs lean body mass. You want to be 20% body fat
100 divided by .80 is 125. So your goal weight is 125lbs.

How do you find your lbm?
Find out what your body fat is. Multiply that amount as a decimal by your total weight and this gives you your fat mass. Subtract that from your total weight and you get your LBM.0
