The good news is you do not have to exercise to lose weight. Just start logging as accurately as you can and stick to your calorie goal.

I've been non weight bearing for 4 months and only just allowed to start touch weight bearing and did initially gain weight. Definitely food intake is the most important factor as I stopped watching what I ate for a while however there are still exercises you can do. Check out YouTube for workouts which can be done seated. There's a few good ones on a channel by jessicasmithtv. Also I would recommend getting some hand weights if you can as you can do some strength training safely and the more upper body strength you have the easier crutches are! If you are seeing physio staff, they may be able to give you some exercises although depending on your injury, you might have to wait til your partial weight bearing.
On the plus side, I keep being told that walking on crutches burns more calories than walking without!0 -
During my weight loss journey I injured my knee (issues with meniscus, no surgery needed).
That never stopped me for doing exercise, just did the right exercise. Also true what a previous poster says, no need to exercise, except for the calories you can eat back0
