Opinions on overeating on period.

Hi everyone!
My name is Libby ! I have been on this weight loss journey over the last 5 years as well as dealing with binge eating disorder.
However I notice that if I go over a week without binging (following calories, etc.) then I get my period I eat like crazy.
Does anyone else go through this?

Some people up their calories to maintenance during those days2

I end up working out more to decrease the progesterone level and to deal with cravings, I eat more protein, increase in calcium, and find myself eating cheap burgers for iron (i never buy red meat). Chocolate is pretty easy to fit in, even low calorie versions. I think just depends on the person, their symptoms, and control, but whatever works in the healthiest ways is feasible with a deficiet or maintenance.1

Yeah. I'm in maintenance and I still overeat. It's part of life. Women who have never logged calories or dieted, but have been a healthy weight all their life, probably do the same. You have to even it out with some lower days and exercise. If you're in a deficit, you can just eat a little more and expect to lose at a slightly slower rate that week.4

My approach always was: get HUGE cravings before, give into them to an extent then know that when the flow started, the cravings AND the appetite went away. I never made myself eat during the first few days when I had NO real appetite. For me that was the key: I'd eat when I had the munches, but while dieting I tried to be logical. Then when my period started and I had ZERO appetite, I just let it go and didnt force myself. I saw no point in forcing myself to eat, especially after a time of over eating.2

I usually have one day where I am super hungry and crave sweets so I will go up to maintenance and even a bit over but usually on my period I tend to have little appetite so I'll take advantage and under eat the days I'm not hungry. I haven't had an issue yet. I lose consistently even at TOM.0

Oh wow thanks everyone !! I just calculated my maintance calories ! And it looks like I didn't surpass them ! Feeling a lot better about the last few days0

My approach is to anticipate that I'll have cravings and feed them- in a smart way. I know I'm going to crave chocolate, so I'll keep a dark chocolate in the house and have a few squares. I know I'm going to crave something salty, so I'll keep green olives in the house (5 olives = 20 calories and salt craving gone!). I know at some point, I'm going to crave crunchy, so I keep snap pea crisps around (1 oz = 120 calories). If I want sweet, I have Cool Whip (9g = 20 calories).
If I can anticipate types of cravings, I can indulge in feeding the craving and still not break 1400. I've noticed that for me it's never really hunger, it's boredom and cravings.1
