Green Tea Weight Loss?

Is anyone drinking green tea daily for weight loss? Is it working for you? I haven't tried it but a girl in my prayer group says it works.

Green tea only works if you use it to replace drinking something high in calories, like a milk shake or a large creamy hot chocolate.13

the caffeine can help slightly with appetite suppressant but so does black coffee or a caffeine pill. other than that it doesn't do anything magical for weight loss. only CICO does. simple thermodynamics6

So I bought Matcha tea today to try it out. I figured it wouldn't kill me to start drinking more tea I love drinking chamomile. I felt pretty good and it gave me a feeling of fullness. So when I ate dinner I ate less. It has a very strong taste though. I figured once a day wouldn't hurt.5

It won't hurt you to drink it but it won't do anything for weight loss either. If it helps you drink more water that is a benefit.6 -
Green tea does not increase your metabolism or anything else that would cause you to burn "extra" calories. However, as pointed out above, if you use it to replace higher-calorie items then it can help. For me, whenever I studied for school previously I would snack. Constantly. Tons of peanut butter, nuts, ice cream, and anything else I could get my mitts on. Now when I start to feel peckish outside meal times, I drink green tea instead because I enjoy the flavor, it's low in calories, and low in caffeine. For me, I feel that it really helped me to lose weight initially because it broke the snacking habit. This wasn't a magical effect of green tea, however, it was an effect of the liquid filling up my stomach instead of food.5

If drinking Green Tea before your meals helps you feel fuller and causes you to eat fewer calories then you will lose weight. BUT, not because of the green tea but because you were eating fewer calories. You can use green tea as a tool however, it alone will not cause you to lose weight!5

Green tea, or really caffeine i should say, does aid in weight loss.
There are several studies on this, and it shows that caffeine increases thermogenesis, fat oxidation and suppressed leptin. . Is it a magical weight loss cure? Not in the least bit but it does have benefits. And honestly it more the caffeine than anything else, green tea is prefered by a lot of people because of the antioxidants, but honestly caffeine pills will do the same thing, they're cheap and easy to take14 -

It aids weight loss but for rapid weight loss results I would combine green tea with other habits I.e a strong calorie deficit and 10,000 steps a day enables weight loss to the highest degree.
I also read that green tea supplements are great for fat burning and one supplement is close to drinking 3 cups of green tea you should maybe try them out as I'm looking to also.18 -

You're reading from the wrong sources. Green tea supplements won't make you burn any appreciable amount of fat over just watching your calories.8 -

Reduced calories helps with weight loss.
Drinking green tea may help you with reducing your calories - if you drink it instead of a high calorie drink or instead of a snack or drinking it before meals means you eat less or something like that.
Same of course could be said for anything else that helps you reduce calories in similar way - eg water, unsweetened coffee, diet soda, chewing gum, handful of snow-peas, gherkins etc etc8 -
It helped me at first drinking it between meals. Helped with managing my craving, but in 2 weeks I was doing fine without it.2

I drink matcha daily. It tastes nice: I like it cold with a slice of fresh citrus (lemon or lime).
In 4 years (1 of weight loss, 3 of maintenance) I've never noticed any impact on my weight loss rate, weight maintenance ability, appetite or satiation.
It's reported to have some useful antioxidants, but I wouldn't drink it if I didn't enjoy it: Life is too short to eat/drink things that don't taste good.
The caffeine should have a mild energy revving effect, but that's trivial in terms of calorie burn, and coffee has more caffeine anyway (around twice the caffeine vs. matcha, in my understanding). (I drink coffee, too, and like it ).
Unless you enjoy it, I wouldn't bother. If you like it, why not?3 -
I love green tea. I have a container of matcha at my desk so I can have some any time. I probably have green tea in my veins.
I'm also fat as heck so yeah.
It's good for you, just not good for fat burning. There's some evidence it may give you a boost, but we're talking MAYBE 10-30 calories a day. And that's a big maybe beside a tiny amount of calories.8 -
My doctor just asked me why I drink 2 cups in the morning. I told her because I heard that it is good for you. She laughed and said it's hyp, that the caffeine makes you think something is improving. Then she said if I like the taste, switch to decaf. I did. It never helped with weight loss or my health in general.2

My theory is that for a few people believing in things like green tea or apple cider vinegar can impact a person's mental outlook enough that for at least a short time they adjust enough in movement or eating to create a calorie deficit. Kind of like if you believe in a curse enough you may inadvertently make decisions that make it come true.
It may also be possible that for a few when they start their myth treatment they are on the higher side of their weight fluctuation range and when they naturally started coming down they mistook it for fat loss.

Ok, show some proper research that shows drinking green tea actually burns energy substantially more than any other drink and leads to weight loss.
I think there was some research that showed this is indeed the case, in the range of 5 calories per day or so. Thus no, this does not lead to weightloss.3 -
