I've been getting into detox teas recently and I've seen a huge change. It makes me not want to eat all the time and not only that, but it makes me need to go to the bathroom a lot.
What are some cons about detox teas?

If the tea contains senna or another natural laxative, please don't continue to use it for more than a week or two. They can cause bowel problems with long term use.

Are you going to drink it every day for the rest of your life?

What actual things are they detoxing you from other than money from you wallet?
  • From what I have been reading from others on this site, detox teas aren't amazing. Tea is nice if you enjoy it. Tea is obviously a lower calorie/sugar/carb choice rather than something like soda or milkshakes. However, from what I am seeing, tea isn't magic in any form. Drinking more tea or water, or other drinks will probably make us feel more full and use the bathroom more. Drink tea if you like tea. :)

Well, you already stated one. They are laxatives so they make you go to the bathroom a lot. That's not a healthy way to lose weight and can actually be quite dangerous.

Additionally, believing in woo like detox teas (ask yourself what toxins it is ridding from your body that your liver and kidneys don't take care of?) can perpetuate this belief that it's the product that is responsible for any weight loss success you have, rather than the actual calorie deficit that you create through your food choices.

Then there is the cost associated with them...

There are plenty more but these are my top 3.
