Hi. I'm only 16, turning 17 very soon. Moved in with my father recently. He works out of the house a lot, and a lot of the food that is here is fast/easy canned stuff, junk mostly. I don't know many recipies, so if you know anything that is healthy and (fairly) easy to make please share
Also, I'm having a hard time making a grocery list, since I'm here most of the time I want to have foods here that I like and make me feel good - eating the canned junk really doesn't. I can stay in my calorie limit just fine, but I'd like foods that are more nutritious and give me more energy. Thanks!!!:)

What do you like to cook? What are some of your favorite foods?
Let's start there and then maybe we can help you build a grocery list and recipe suggestions from there.0 -
Hi, I'm 20 and I think that a lot of healthy eating advice for college students would be useful to you. Maybe google something like that? I've seen articles before.
Frozen fruits and vegetables are always easy to add to yogurt, smoothies, pasta dishes, etc. and they'll keep.
Most of these are pretty easy to make. Some of my favorite foods to make are:
-french toast with multigrain bread
-omelets with whatever veggies/meat/cheese you like
-other egg things
-big salads with fruit, nuts, seeds
-healthy tacos with ground chicken or turkey
-greek yogurt with mix-ins
-homemade soup (chicken/beef broth, seasonings, veggies, lentils or barley and meat, maybe beans) It's great in the winter!
-homemade turkey burgers
-goulash (elbow macaroni, canned tomatoes, seasonings, and ground turkey or beef)
-pork tenderloin is also good
Things in the crockpot can be easy too.
I hope that helps!0 -
I've always said I'm not a good cook. Turns out that I actually am, but I'm just easily distracted and don't like to. So I tend to stick to really easy stuff.
My typical supper if I'm just cooking for myself
Lean Angus Burger
Thin Hamburger Bun (they look like mini-pitas)
Huge amount of frozen veggies boiled.
Super easy supper that only takes like 10 minutes.0 -
I pretty much like to eat whatever. There are a few vegetables that I don't like but I like things like fish(salmon in particular but like other kinds), chicken, corn, broccoli, cauliflower...I LOVE fruits, grapes, strawberries, apples, oranges, and many more. Basically recipes involving fish/chicken and veggies. I just don't know how to cook very well lol0

Stir-fry! Use beef, chicken or pork (cut into bite sized pieces) and put into skillet w/ olive oil, salt and pepper. Add fresh veggies like bell pepper, mushrooms, broccoli flowerettes, Shredded cabbage, and onions. Top with teriyaki or soy sauce and serve over brown rice. Yum! and very healthy.
Change up the ingredients to go for a mexican flavor stir fry:
Chicken, beef or pork, black or pinto beans, canned corn (mexi corn is best) bell pepper, and onion. Server over rice with salsa, cilantro, guacamole and a wedge of lime.
Go for an all-American skillet stir fry:
Chicken, beef or pork (sausage also works very well), Diced or shredded potatoes, garlic or garlic salt, bell pepper, onion, diced tomato or halved cherry tomatoes, mushrooms. Cook the meat first until done (browned). Remove meat from skillet and keep warm in oven. Add olive oil, garlic, onion to skillet for 2-3 minutes on medium or until the onions are slightly translucent. Add potatoes and cook on medium heat for 5 minutes. Turn potatoes and add vegetables and cook for another 5 minutes. Mix protein back into skillet and cook for another 3-5 minutes. Top with shredded cheese and salsa (or sauce of your choice. My husband likes sriracha).0
