Anyone else over 60 around here?

FitBit and MFP do a good job for me - My goal was to lose 8 pounds and so far I've lost 5 lbs in 7 weeks.
The hardest part is the very low calorie intake I'm allowed just to lose .5 a week - 1240! I realize our metabolisms slow down as we get older, but wow this is a real challenge. The only way I can stay within my cals is by exercising every day at the gym plus get as many steps as I can. It's discouraging to have to work so hard!
Anyone out there willing to share his/her story? I would love to hear how you're doing and maybe share some tips with me
