Going back 4 years approx, I was at my heaviest, about 250 lbs. I changed my diet by adopting vegetarianism, started jogging, and eventually came to 200lbs. I am 5' 11", male, 40's. Well mostly I kept the weight off but it had drifted to 220 lbs, and I was no longer jogging but I was now doing some commuting to work by bike, when I decided I was good at cycling and wanted to race in bike races. That started a massive cycling kick that continues today.

As I write today, I am 175lbs and ride about 150 miles a week. In cycling it helps to weigh less, so my weight goal is 165 lbs. just last week, I tried my first criterium and came in last place. That was humiliating, I want to become competitive.

I was using a real health coach via webmd, but a spin merge left me at a company with less benefits (no surprise there, right)....so anyway, that's my story, I log on Strava everyday. The human element helps in cycling and I believe it helps with weight loss too.
