Scales!

I've recently brought some scales, but I'm having the typical issue that they give out multiple readings that vary by 5lbs! The house only contains carpet or lino flooring (bathroom) and the bathroom floor is very uneven so I am unable to find an even spot.
Has anyone found a solution this issue? i.e placing some wood in the bathroom then putting the scales on the wood etc?

A piece of plywood on the bathroom floor is your best bet. It needs to give you a stable surface, so the scale doesn't rock to one side or another.

Do you have a back patio or something too? Might be slightly uncomfortable in the cold weather . . .

My scale just says 'ERR' whenever I step on it

Buy a single 12" tile and place it in the bathroom, keep the scale on that.

Big bathroom tile to set it on! You can buy them individually at Lowe's and Home Depot.
