Shopping as excercise
I know I broke a sweat several times today and I am sure I put in about two miles trekking back and forth from the fitting room to the sale racks. No fights broke out - a good thing. I have, however, never been as frustrated and demoralized as I was today. I must have tried on 50 dresses. I am 5'8" and 188 pounds with a 38" waist and I need a dress for a very very nice (fancy) wedding that I am going to this weekend. It is too dressy for slacks. I don't quite fit into womens sizes and I top out of all the other sizes, so even finding something to fit is nearly impossible. How it looks is a totally different matter. My cortisol levels are through the roof today. Oh, by the way, I have been dress hunting - not successfully and I was also just sure that the dressy suit - skirt and jacket would fit. Oh, not by about 4 fricking inches. jeez. So, I have not left it until the last minute, AND how hard can it be to find a dress in say, JC Pennys or Burlington Coat Factory or Macys? There are literally thousands of dresses!
So, I wound up with two black shift style dresses. One has a front lace panel over tan. The other has a swiss eyelet pattern panel over white. Lace is a tad bit tight. Swiss barks at you because of the contrast and of course the pattern has a circular pattern that is perfectly placed over an already large stomach. BUT it fits with out question. Can I lose 4 pounds by the weekend and have lace fit or not? At my age, does it matter? (64) I am certainly no one special in this wedding - just an extended family member.
I am trying to eat no more than 1200 low carb calories a day. I missed by about 200 today, but the carbs were fairly low. It would be so nice if I could enter shopping as an exercise  Stress, walking, lifting, carrying, taking clothes off and putting them on - yeah, I think I got a work out today. I will decide on one of the dresses, bling it up a bit, and realize that I am no way the center of attention and no one cares what I wear. I am fortunate that my relatives will be glad I am there. Very cool family
Thank you for listening to my vent. It helps to put things in perspective and for you younguns, get it done now. It does not get easier as we get older.
