I missed a workout, and I'm okay with that.

So as I have said before, I have been doing a 90 day workout program.
For the past two months, I have not missed a single workout. I had it in my mind that if I missed a workout, I was a failure and wouldn't complete the program.
Well guess what. This weekend I missed my first workout. The cardio workout. I was very sick to my stomach yesterday, and just couldn't bring myself to do the workout.
I am the type of person who sets harsh goals and harsh rules when it comes to working out, and seriously bring myself down when I don't meet those goals or rules. Its just my personality to beat myself up badly if I fail.
But fellow fitness friends, i had a realization this morning.
Guess what? I'm not a failure.
Its not about missing a workout. Its about making sure you keep going regardless. Its not about how you fall, its about how you get back up! I have only failed if I let this be the end of my workout program. I must keep going to really succeed.
Tonight, I will pick up on the next workout and finish these last 4-5 weeks strong. Then at the end of the workout program, I will do an extra day of cardio to make up for the day I missed.
Hopefully this mentality will help continue to keep me in the gym after this program, and keep working towards a healthier version of myself.
Hopefully someone sees this that needed the motivation to keep going with their own workout, and to know there are not a failure either!

No, the program is 6 days a week of a preplanned strength training/cardio HIIT style workouts. Sunday's are rest days. This week I switched my rest day from Sunday to Friday for social reasons.
I planned to not miss a workout.0 -

Sometimes life just happens...I'll be missing my Wednesday lifting session to attend a school function with my kiddos...no biggie.0

I follow a plan when I run. It has a certain number and types of runs that are to be done in a certain order (plus cross training). I often times skip runs, change distances, and otherwise make adjustments to the plan. I do this because I listen to my body (and mind). At the end of the day, this makes me much more successful. I would fail if I stuck to the plan like it was some kind of unbreakable rule. Don't fall for that trap. Listen to you body and it (and you) will end up in a much better place.
Good luck.1
