I got on the scale today for the 1st time in way too long. I weigh more than I ever have in my entire life. I want to lose weight and be more healthy but it's such a struggle. I love food and I love eating delicious stuff. Sweets and carbs seem to be my number one go to food. I don't think I focus enough on myself and it's time I try to shift focus back to me. I have to do something and I have to stop waiting till tomorrow.

Just take it one day at a time, and you will find what works for you and your ways will change it takes time. Move those feet, down that water and log everything good and bad...you got this!!!
I love carbs to but the weight gain sucks...try whole wheat pastas, breads etc!!! The foods you love just goggle and find healthy alternatives...im here if needed2 -
Sounds good! You can do it. Start with baby steps. Don't try to change everything at once, that's a recipe for disaster. Looking back, I would suggest something like this:
Step 1: Honestly log everything you are currently eating.
Step 2: Evaluate food diary, and make small sustainable tweaks you can continue for the rest of your life.
Step 3: Possibly incorporate a little exercise - 30 minute walk, for example.
Step 4: Keep evaluating and tweaking.11 -

Best advice ever.

I'm almost 3 weeks into logging calories and eating at a deficit and, honestly, I'm surprised how little of a struggle it's been. Was expecting to be all frustrated and full of cravings by now, but so far so good. I don't believe I will reach my goal weight without any set-backs, and a lot of the people here have probably experienced that. I too love sweets and carbs, and I still eat them, just less than I used to, and what helped me was actually seeing how many calories some of my favorite foods have. It's one thing to have a general idea that nuts are fatty and cakes and chocolate bars are full of sugar and fat, but another when you actually log your calories. It's taken some juggling with different foods to make sure that I feel satisfied, get my treat every day, and don't go to bed hungry without going over my daily calories by much, but it's doable. Just give it a try, and like others said before, incorporate changes into your diet and exercise slowly, don't overwhelm yourself. Much success to you!2

It is all about burning more calories than you eat. So you don't have to give up carbs and you don't have to give up sweets, just eat them in moderation and get a good exercise routine going. Find ways to incorporate things you love but with less calories. If I have at least one yummy snack a day, it really helps me avoid wanting to go overboard. So I have things like greek yogurt with peanut butter crunchy stuff and little bits of chocolate in it 130 cal. Or a little single ice cream cup 100 cal. I am able to feel like I had a treat and still have no problem staying under my calories.2
