They burn calories just by being alive too. Not all calories are burned in the gym. Being a male and having more muscle can both be factors that lead to higher calorie burns just through living... Also you don't know what they are doing when you're not around. They may eat pizza for that meal you see but then at home they might eat nothing but chicken and veggies.

Comparison is the thief of joy. Eyes on your own plate. And make the pizza fit your goals if you want it. You can just eat one slice and not an entire pizza.

Men need more calories than women - so their calorie goals/recommendations are higher. Age plays a factor into it too.

As for what they eat - as long as they can fit it into their calorie goals, then they can eat whatever they want. Because men have higher calorie goals than women, it's easier for them to fit more pizza and waffles in than a woman with a lower calorie goal.

If you want pizza, you can make it yourself and control the calories or eat a bit less for a few days and bank calories for a few slices one night.

Watching someone eat something high calorie tells you nothing about what they're eating when they aren't around you or what activity they may be engaging in. They may be eating less at other times of day or you may be seeing them on a day when they've decided to have a milkshake.

That said, the bigger you are, the more calories you need just to exist. So someone who has put effort into building muscle mass is going to burn more calories just living than someone who hasn't.

I will say that most people who want to have some pizza can fit it into their calories goals, even when they are losing weight. You may not be able to eat *as much* pizza as you would like, but a slice or two of pizza will fit into most calorie goals.
