Just wondering if there was anyone here who has gastro paresis and still overweight??? Do you take prescribed medicine or are you dealing with it naturally on your own???

Hi!
I've just created a post about this!
I'm being investigated for gastroparesis tomorrow by way of the emptying scan and so far, for the last 10-ish days I've struggled to eat anything solid beyond dry crackers, puréed fruit baby food and vegetable bouillon.
I'm struggling with being overweight and not even coming close to the calories I'm meant to have each day.
How are you doing?0 -
I have it! It gets worse with stress. My doctor prescribed me bethanacol, a prokinetic, which helps move your gi faster, and since I started it last week, I have had much less to no pain I have found that meals low in fat and high in cooked down veggies make me feel better too.1

I was just diagnosed with this last week! I wasn't prescribed anything specific for the disorder but was given a medication because I am on opioids for pain management and my doctor thinks that's causing things to be ever worse and she gave me a rx to help with that.
I have had Reflux and IBS since I was in high school so I have dealt with a lot of pain and digestive issues for a long time I don't really know if this is something new or just a generic diagnosis because I have had the emptying studies a few years ago and they all came back normal. But I guess we'll see how this goes!0 -
Oh I forgot to mention I am a bit overweight now I am 5'2" and about 155lbs, I used to always be very small for a while I was barely over 100 but was typically always around 110lbs but then I started having issues with chronic migraines and got put on tons of different medications and they caused a lot of weight gain, at the peak of everything I was over 200lbs.
Since starting with MFP and going to the gym pretty regularly I have lost a little over 10lbs and that has been since the beginning of March of this year.0 -
I'm actually in the middle of being tested more for this as well, I had food still in my stomach during 2 endoscopy exams, the 2nd one I even was on a liquid diet the whole day before. They also found a hietal hernia. I was on reglan for a couple weeks & it didn't seem to help...(the long term side effects were also pretty scary) so I stopped taking it & am only taking pantoprazole for acid & linzess currently which seems to help but I also have ulcerative colitis so it could be helping that as well. The doctor gave me pain meds recently but I'm not a fan of taking those so I'm planning on setting up an appointment for a 2nd opinion to at least find out why my food isn't digesting. It's horrible though, feeling bloated constantly. I heard it's a tricky thing to treat as well but I'm hoping to find out more soon. I've managed to lose 15 pounds so far in the past 2ish months with calorie counting though so I figure as long as I keep that up I'll be okay. I do hope that after getting to my goal weight though that it won't be super hard to get to maintenance.0
