Has anyone tried any meal supplement shakes, preferably the ones you make yourself with powder and water?
Any recomedations on which ones help you?
Been looking at the cute powders and thinking of trying them if anyone has tried those ones?

Is this to replace a meal or just to supplement protein requirements?
I like Pure Protein 100% Whey as a protein supplement. If you wanted to make this a meal add veggies and fruit (for fiber and micronutrients) and fat.....like whole milk or yogurt would help.0 -

To replace a meal, find it hard to eat breakfast in the morning so feel it may help as well as aid weight loss, so not the protein shakes! Thank you0 -

If you don't like breakfast, you don't have to eat it. There is no metabolic difference or changes that occur. And if you prefer, you can save those calories for later for a more enjoyable use (i.e., bigger lunch or dinner). The only reasons why I would have a protein shake, is 1. I am short on protein, 2. I enjoy them, 3. I need something before a workout because I'm starving.1 -

I don't want protein shakes I want meal replacement for Breakfast and Lunch. I'm looking for something that will fill me up as currently I have trouble finding foods that fill me up without binging.
Here I'm just after advice on which brands are good, not if I should or shouldn't have them.

I like Slimquick Pure and Sun Warrior (if you need plant based). If you drink coffee try adding a tsp coconut oil, a scoop of protein powder, and a couple of TB of milk (your choice) and giving it a whir in a blender. Gets me 10g protein and some healthy fat for about 150 calories and gets me through after my workout until I can have my breakfast at my preferred time.0

I've heard good things about Soylent. They have a few different flavours. Original tastes like cheerio milk, Nectar tastes like fruity pebbles milk, Coffiest is coffee milk (apparently tasty) and Cocao is like chocolate milk. Each serving contains a nice balance of nutrients and macros - apparently some folks just drink Soylent for every meal.
I personally couldn't do it - liquids just aren't filling. I'd drink one and instantly be hungry again.
For people with sensory issues or a super busy schedules, I can see the appeal. But not for me.0 -
Note that it is the protein in the protein shakes that will help fill you up . I use protein powder for a meal replacement shake. You want a powder that has adequate protein , low sugar, and fibre to help keep you full. Most of the brands have ones with added greens and vitamins depending on what you are wanting. I add half a frozen banana to make it thicker

Which is it you cant eat in the morning or your starving and looking to not binge you cant have it both ways1 -
Progressive whey essential all in one, natural chocolate. I blend it with 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk, half a banana and ice cubes. I'm not a breakfast person either. I find my blood sugar stays way more in control when I start my day with a smoothie no cravings or starving binges. I usually have a B up protein bar with an apple for lunch.
I have also tried Gnarly brand meal replacement powder but I prefer the flavour of chocolate Progressive (I have yet to find a vanilla I like).1 -
I use USN diet fuel, made up with water, or sometimes soya milk. I find it really filling and as it's got a decent amount of protein in it, it keeps the hunger away until the next meal. Not sure where in the world you are, but Holland and Barrett often have them in the buy one get one for a penny sale making them really good value.1

You can very easily have it both ways... I don't have an appetite in the morning, I've never had breakfast whatever size I've been. That doesn't effect that the fact that when I do become hungry I binge? Just not in the morning. Not that hard to understand

Protein, fiber and/or fat are filling. Different combinations for everyone though. There is no one-size-fits-all. Some people stay full on fat free protein - not me. Others stay full on fat free fiber - again not me.
Binge eating is behavioral. You can choose to believe that meal replacements will fix that behavior if you want to, but that doesn't make it fact. Meal replacements are just a short term fix. Some of us DO understand (more than you think).1 -

The 'not hard to understand' was about people's appetite not coming in in the morning. As many people don't feel hungry in the morning but instead feel hungrier later on.

You can custom make your own at home. I rotate between whey, hemp and egg white protein. My preference is to use coconut milk. I also add either ground chia or flax seed, vitamin b powder and Moringa powder. By adding konjac powder (also called glucomannan) it makes it thick and very filling. It tastes like a soggy wheat-a-bix. I don't put sugar / artificial sweetener in it. It takes me hours to finish - so it works well as a meal replacement. (It's under 300 calories.) You can add flavoring like apple pie spices, vanilla, extracts I guess if you wanted. I just like mine plain.
