Help!!!! calorie and deficit confusion??

    Yup! Eating at any amount below 1700 will result in weight loss. The lower you go, the faster you'll lose. Usually 1200 calories is suggested as the lowest amount you should go for, since your body needs a certain amount of nutrients every day, and it can be difficult to get all those nutrients below that value.

    A pound of fat is about 3500 calories. A daily deficit of 500 calories = 3500 per week. So that results in a pound of fat lost every week. Weight loss isn't perfectly linear, and lots of things can make your weight fluctuate. Water retention, menstruating, all kinds of things. But the downward trend - calculated over many months - should average out to a pound lost per week.
