I've just started my weight loss journey. Since last week, I've given up soda and started counting calories. Seeing success stories of so many women is inspirational, but it got me thinking.. how do moms lose the infamous belly fat?? My youngest is 3 and it's beyond time for me to get back in shape. What has worked for you at losing "the jelly roll"?

Nothing special, just eating at a deficit and regular exercise (lifting). But, I had a flat stomach pre pregnancy. When I gained pregnancy weight it went to my belly and butt, thighs. Actually, all over. My arms were big for the first time ever. I got serious when my girl was 3, too. It can be done. Consistency is key.

I am obviously not a mom but I sure look pregnant in the before. Does that count, lol? The after was 21 pounds ago. It is all about the fork put downs and table pushaways.

I'm kind of amazed that only took a 21 lb loss.

I am right there with you in this struggle. My child is two and I have not yet figured out how to balance everything in a way that is satisfying and helps me get back into shape.

Oh, that is a lot more than 21 pounds. In the before, I was 320+. In the after, I was 209. Currently, I am 188. 21 pounds is the difference between the photo on the right and now.

OK! That makes more sense to me. Good work!

I have a 2 year old (and 12 and 8 year olds) and last year I spent selling our house and moving. Focusing on getting rid of mine too. Found that reducing calories, crunches, and spin classes helped tremendously. However, with this being my third c-section, I finally ended up with the dreaded overhang, which I didn't have to deal with the last two. I really hope I can at least minimize it.

Lost the desired weight (did not get the desired results in my stomach), worked out and lifted weights, continued about 2 or 3 years. It just takes time and losing the weight in and of itself doesn't always get the desired results.

For me.. a small calorie deficit, lifting weights, adequate protein and lots of patience.

I have 3 kids, 22 months apart from each other, and I lost the stomach flab by losing the extra weight I was carrying around (50lbs), and getting my bmi to the low end of the healthy range. My waist now measures 25 inches and my bmi is around a 20.
