So a daughter, not mine,(age 8) was taken to see a movie of her choice by her step dad so that she feels special because he is planning to go out for his Anniversary while the kids stay with a sitter. The parent comes home to get ready for his Anniversary date with his wife. The child is so upset because she doesn't get to go on the date, she throws a fit and goes to her room to sob. The parents try to make the child happy but have to leave while the sitter is dealing with the upset child otherwise they will be late for what's planned. (The sitter doesn't mind the child and tries to preoccupy them and try to make them happy but in the inside the sitter is really rolling their eyes) the grand-parents call to pick up the child to take them to eat out just to make the child happy. The child is grinning from ear to ear because they got their way about just getting to go out to eat.
What's wrong with this picture?

Probably step 1 where she was taking to a movie so she wouldn't feel bad about not being included in the anniversary which set the stage for everything.

Seems like they spoil the child so she doesn't feel left out. Kids need to know the world doesn't revolve around them.

Yaaaaasssss exactly! I thought that was so manipulative when I heard this story! I feel bad for the kid partially for whatever makes the kid think she should be so entitled.

As far as what is the sitter wearing? Good one....
That they didn't invite the sitter? Or did they?
Um no.... why would the sitter want to tag along?

Why the need for a sitter at all if they called the grandparents?

Anywhoo my question was what was for dinner? I hope the sitter got dinner out of this.

If the babysitter is the adult responsible for the kids she's hired to take care of, turning one of the kids over to other people without the express permission of the mother (biological parent) sounds like it could be a problem.

If nanny and grampy were available in the first place, why was a sitter hired?

What about the other kids who didn't get to go out with nanny and grampy for dinner? What if they pout and stomp and whine and refuse to go to bed? Does baby sitter get paid extra for that?

What if mommy hates nanny and grampy and didn't want little Brittany going out to a restaurant with them?

Does baby sitter have to split her earnings with nanny and grampy since they babysat one of the children?

What if little Brittany comes home from dinner and has diarrhea and vomiting later that night from eating a stale chicken finger and mommy gets mad about it and hauls babysitter and nanny and grampy in front of Judge Judy?

    That's a lot of if's

I'm intrigued as to why you would ask this. Did this happen to you last night? Lol!

    Hahaha valid points!

Babysitter did have to clock out and clock in for the one kid pay rate when "smart kid" left with grandparents who did have permission to pick up kid.
