Is it ok to do my low impact Aerobics DVD barefoot? I have a blister and I can't wear shoes. I would like to do my strength and endurance DVD also barefoot. Please advise

Do you have foot problems that would be aggravated without arch support? If not then there shouldn't be an issue.3

Why wouldn't it be?3

I don't wear shoes inside my house, so any exercise I do indoors is barefoot (or with socks if that matters).4

Since most shoes really don't have much of an arch support anyway (foam that you can push flat with finger ain't doing much for over 100 lbs), and for many the inflexibility is actually a negative, why not.
Now, if the lack of friction on some workouts causes you to slide on a hard wood floor and drop your hip into the ground - no, that's not good.
If you build up your body barefoot, feet will be strengthen too right along with it.
If already at a high intensity level, or extra weight or impact on workouts - start slow or infrequent to give feet a chance to catch up.4 -
Being barefoot is exercise for your feet.3

I like to protect my tootsies from clumsy me!2

Should be nice! If you have a slippy or cold floor, some of those slipper socks/yoga socks are good.1

I do a lot of my exercises barefoot...I do some of my strength moves with shoes because I feel I have better support or grip...just depends. I hesitate from doing high intensity aerobics barefoot...I have osteopenia and fractured a bone in my foot as a teenager just from dancing...so if I'm jumping a lot I put shoes on.1

Not problem unless you need orthotics for arch support. Do what works for you.1

My only exercise is walking, in summer it's barefoot, and winter i wear my warm comfy slippers.
I exercise at home though, i have a massive block with side gates on either side of my house, so i do laps on and off during the day.2 -
I walk and run on my treadmill in socks. I find wearing shoes makes my ankles hurt. I do all my other exercising at home that way too. Saving money for a silly looking pair of minimalist shoes for the gym as well.
Wear whatever is comfy for you.1 -
just try it out and see what happens
good luck1 -
Thank you for replies they have been very helpful.1

It seems a great opportunity to become more body-aware. Monitor how the exercises affect your foot, your balance and adjust as necessary.2 -
Human beings somehow got by for thousands and thousands of years before the invention of shoes. You should be fine.2

I walk, run and hike barefoot and feel like I have better balance and control this way. It can actually be less impact as you flex your joints more, land softer and learn good form, because bad form will hurt immediately instead of being masked by cushioned shoes and causing chronic injuries later. Just like any new physical activity though, ease into it slowly and give your body time to adjust.2

I only wear shoes when I absolutely need them. I'm barefooted all summer. Run, bike, strength train, all barefooted. Shoes make my feet hurt so bad. I have a few pairs I can stand, but as soon as it's nice enough to go barefooted I do that. It's so much cooler in the summer.0
