Increase weight

I am hoping not to get too many "just eat more" responses. I understand I need to eat more but right now eating is extremely difficult for me.
I weighed 113 lbs this morning and it has scared me. I am 5'6 and that is not healthy at all. I am going to destroy my body unless I gain weight back quickly.
I need ideas for high calorie dense foods that would be nutritious. So far I have been eating lots of bread with peanut butter, protein shakes (though not terribly high calorie), and ice cream. Pretty much those things and oatmeal is all I can stand to eat. I did buy some almonds so maybe that will help.

are you seeking help for why you cant eat any other food than what you have listed?0

When you're making your meals, use full fat or regular ingredients instead of light or diet ones. Drink whole milk vs skim, butter vs pam, etc.
Nuts are good to get your calories up. Use cheese and dressing on your salads. Try new foods to make it more interesting, curries, bibimba, etc.0 -

Yes. But the meds I am on can also lead to weight loss.
It just goes against every fiber of my being to drink whole milk and slather butter on stuff. I am very fearful of becoming overweight. But I think I am more fearful of hurting my body right now by continueing to be underweight and losing even more weight.
I just have almost no appetite and when I try to eat it just grosses me out. Its very difficult to eat a large amount. I guess I need to research what would be calorie dense in small amounts I can handle or I should try to drink my calories for now.0 -
I make my own protein bars and trail mix. Both are very calorie dense. There is an up front "cost" in terms of making the stuff, but after that it is a) cheaper, and b) easier to control what is inside of it, and c) fun to do!
EDIT: after seeing your other response, maybe going to talk to someone about your fear of becoming overweight would be useful. A little bit of butter or a glass of whole milk won't make you fat0 -
I didn't grow up on whoel milk so I think its gross and too thick lol.
I mean always everyday putting butter on stuff. I don't really even like butter.
I am afraid of getting fat but not in such a way I never eat less than healthy foods. I eat burgers, pizza, ice cream etc. like a normal person. I just don't do that stuff every single day. Its been very easy to maintain my weight loss for several years but I am very upset right now and the medication I am on can cause weight loss when I can't afford to lose weight.
I think I will make an appointment with my doctor to discuss the medication. It just might not be the right meds for me. I went from someone who loves food to being grossed out by it. Eating is now an unpleasant chore.0 -

I don't want to sound rude or anything, but to my untrained ear it sounds like you went from one eating disorder to the other. Eating shouldn't be an unpleasant chore. Talk to your doctor, and seriously consider talking to a therapist about this. There isn't anything wrong with hitting a couch. My mom once told me there are two types of people in the world: Those who need to hit the couch, and those that are hitting the couch.0 -
Why are you so scared of becoming overweight?
I've you've lost weight before you know that losing it isn't impossible.0 -

the medication I am on has the side effects of upset stomach and decreased appetite. Ad in that I am going through a divorce and you might see why food is repulsive to me. It has nothing to do with food itself or gaining weight.
I just think being fat again would be horrible so I would like to prevent it. I never want to be that way again if I can help it. Obviously that is not an issue whatsoever right now as I am trying to gain weight.0 -

Thank you for being helpful rather than assuming I aspire to be a bag of bones. I think I am going to buy some yogurt, more nuts, and higher calorie protein bars. Maybe I could make myself a higher calorie shake too. I am having a lot of trouble eating the more savory type foods right now like meat and eggs. Hopefully I will start to feel better so I can eat normal again. Until then I certainly do not want to waste away.0 -
Seeing as there is no mention of fruit and veg, maybe get a multi vitamin as well?0
