How do I stop?

Emotional eating?
I eat to relieve stress, I eat to comfort me, and when I do, it makes me feel happy?
How do I stop this mentality in order to start my journey?

Hi there - same for me. It's very difficult.
I wish I knew the answer myself.
I don't know how to break the cycle.

Honestly, it is not easy. But distraction is a good start. Try to replace this habit with another. A healthy one. For example, meditation, go for a walk, etc. Work towards recognizing this habit immediately before, then question yourself. Do I really need this? What else can I do?
We all have ways of dealing with stress/emotions. I used to fight with emotional eating which lead to the scale reading 287lbs. But with some determination, motivation and a lot of disciple, anything is possible.0 -
I typically overeat when a stressful situation comes to a close. Relief in work or family pressure and becoming more relaxed opens the flood gates to food. This is often Friday nights after a long week, or Sunday's once I decompress. It's taken me a while to figure that part out, now it's time to work on fixing it. I do find walking outside with a great playlist is an excellent distraction -- if I catch myself before I open the pantry door.0
