Feeling svelte

I logged back into MFP this last New Years Eve, after an 8 year absence.
I weighed 183 pounds. For a 5'11" man, that was an overweight BMI of 25.5.
My goal is to get to 163, then reassess and recomp.

I hit 170 yesterday morning. Feeling thinner on the face, and just starting to feel the belly get flatter.
Feeling stronger, and more flexible and energetic than I was last year.

So, later, I was shopping at Trader Joe's. This is a Southern California Trader Joe's, where fit people are the norm.
For the first time in years, rather than feeling like a slob, I felt like I fit in with the other athletic-looking shoppers. Tried to find a word for how it felt, and settled on "svelte".

This is the payoff of lifting dumbbells, many miles of biking, and hitting the "tare" button over a thousand times. Totally worth it.

Apologies to anybody offended by the word "slob", but you are in the right place here. Keep on logging.

I know exactly what you feel. I grew up in "the OC" and it sucked being overweight. While I still don't fit into their standards, I don't stand out when I go for a visit.
    Congratulations on your transformation!
