Supplements

I am big into supplements. I feel I have good diet control, but like to supplement both to help me and I admit the placebo effect. Currently I am on a Metamucil Sugar Free Orange Fiber, 2g Omega-3 ester fish oil, 4g garlic, 150mg/30mg Olive Oil Extract, 1g turmeric, 2 VitaFusion Men's Gummies, 500mg calcium. Plus I liberally use a salt-free substitute that doubles my potassium intake. I used to take more things but I trimmed back about 4-5 supplements due to getting over 100% RDA in the diet (and not noticing any change when I quit) and it was less costly. I spend about $30 since I buy them wholesale and in bulk. I love them and my vitals and blood work are quickly coming into line. What else does anyone take and why?

Well I take iron because it's low otherwise. Vitamin D because I live in an area with lots of rain and clouds, a fish oil and vitamin C when I don't meet the RDA.

Zinc, D, vitamin E, fish oils, glucosamine, multi, calcium, turmeric, vitamin c and if I do a run in hot weather I have a mixture that has the proper potassium/sodium/magnesium levels.

    Jarrow's "Bone-Up" (Calcium, D3, K2, Magnesium) Fish Oil, Multi Vitamin, Health Force Vita-Mineral Greens, Pre-biotics and Pro-biotics.

To answer why... to be honest, I'm hoping that the healthier I am, the faster my metabolism will be!

I take a vitamin D supplement. Do remember, there's no points for getting extra vitamins. If you don't have a deficiency, you will just pee out the excess.

Or have a chance of eventually poisoning yourself, if it's a fat soluble vitamin, such as Vitamin A.

You can have excess Vitamin D. It is uncommon, but I do know one person who had it. I believe you might be referring to Vitamin C and Vitamin B, which are water soluble so get lost in urine.

I used to take a B complex (with 10,000% B-12), chromium, cinnamon, and probiotics but I didn't notice anything changes from the three months I was on them or off. Ironically, since starting the high dosage of fish oil and olive leaf extract I am much more calm and less nervous. I use a salt free Cajun seasoning made from potassium. I had been using it for years but didn't realize how low an amount I was getting from my diet. I have been thinking about trying some dark chocolate I never eat cookies cakes soda pop or other sweets. Some of the lesser vitamins and minerals it's hard to tell how much you are actually getting.
