Is Google Fit accurate??

Hey, guys! Recently I've connected MFP to Google Fit, and it's been telling me I've been burning a LOT of calories a day just puttering around (800 calories a day for around 10000 steps walking). To me that seems like a lot, but I'm not sure exactly how it works to calculate.

Can anyone speak to its accuracy that has been using it for a while? Should I take the calorie burn count as fact or fiction?

Any help to settle my mind would be much appreciated. :)

What's your MFP activity level set to?

You will see a larger adjustment for 10k steps if you are set at Sedentary than you would if you set yourself to Active.

MFP greatly overestimates the number of calories burned when syncing activity from Google fit; go by the data available in the latter.

I find Fit good on steps, but it the transfer to MFP screws up the speed of my cycling (I'm under 10 mph and it bumps me up to the 12-14 mph). The actual burn in Fit is correct for me (about 80 calories for 20 min, not 150).

Steps does matter what you have your activity set to; if you say you're active (which is 10,000 steps), you'll get near zero calories adjusted. If you say sedentary and then walk 10,000 steps, yes, it will add a lot.
