I've changed my diet only eating 1500 calories a day and walking 1.5 miles every day with some days doing 15 minutes on a stationary bike. I started April 6th and lost 5 lbs. I ate and Easter meal with my family. I ate stuffing and carbs and turkey and a piece of cake. I was so full since I've been eating small all week I didn't eat anything else until he next afternoon. Well now I look at my scale and I gained the 5lbs back even though I went back to my diet. I didn't think one day would be so bad? Anyone else have something like this? It really has me down but I'm motivated to lose 100lbs so I want to keep going.

water weight...more inherent waste in your system, etc...

Also, a loss of 5 Lbs in a week would indicate a substantial amount of water loss as well...this is a long process, you can't let a mere week get to you...weight loss isn't linear and you're going to have weeks with bigger losses, no losses, and scale gains...you need to get your head into the long game.

I agree that it is probably water weight. Usually a holiday dinner has far more salt in it than what we normally eat. Don't lose hope! Press on like you know what you are doing--you do.
Also, consider doing what I do: if I know I have eaten a particularly salty meal the day before weigh-in day, I skip weighing in, and do it the next day. Keeps me sane.

Don't lose your motivation and be discouraged. I'm trying to lose 100lbs also and I understand the water weight problem. I retain water in my legs and feet. But as long as your watching what you eat, working out and feeling good there's no way you can't be working towards your goal of 100lbs. Keep up the good work
