Waist to height ratio, more valid measurement than BMI.

My problem with waist to height ratio is that I'm really tall (around 5'11") and have always had an hourglass shape with a very defined waist. Going by waist to height ratio I was "ok" with a 35" waist even though I was 209 lbs and had a BMI of 29.5.

Interesting. Would you consider yourself an outlier?

This measurement gives you a better result than the BMI though. :)

I used to have a friend that was a NP she mentioned she uses waist circumference and doesn't think BMI was all that great. I haven't heard of the height to waist part before though.

    numbers are numbers.

I prefer to define it on how I feel and how my clothing fits...but oh look another number.

You can't take one or two numbers...you need them all.

BMI, waist to height, weight, BF%, BP, blood numbers etc...

BMI has its problems, but the issue you get into when you use something else is that most of the health research uses BMI, so you don't really know anything from other measurements.
