Fitbit burned caloires and actual calories earned.

Hello -
I am new to the fit bit.
My question is if I am wearing a heart rate monitor and excercising, and also wearing my fit bit, do I add what the heart rate monitor says? I know the fitbit will automatically adjuster calories on my fitness pal, but I feel like if I enter 500 calories burned (what my HRM says), and then there is a 400 calorie fitbit adjustment, am I really getting an extra 900 calories a day? Or should I just be relying on what the fitbit adjustment is, and not entering any calories burned on a hrm?

Hey there,
I wear a fitbit but not a HRM. However, I sometimes deal with a similar dilema when I do extra cycling because fitbit doesn't add steps during cycling. I would not add the extra calories your heartrate monitor is saying you are burning. I find that even though I think I am recording every single thing that goes into my mouth, I know realistically, I'm probably missing a couple hundred calories here and there, if for no other reason than I'm not precisely measuring every portion. You will have a little cushion if you know in reality you are burning a little more than is being recorded. It sounds like it's a small difference (100 calories according to what you wrote.) What I would NOT do is record the full 500 in addition to the 400 your fitbit is giving you. You are essentially recording your calories twice that way. Just work with what the fitbit gives you. In my opinion, that's a safer option.
