Someone told me that potassium is good for that too, so maybe eat a 1/2 banana or something before you run?

But I think hydration is probably the first place to look to prevent them.

Is it from running? Increasing my fitness level has helped to some degree, but there are days, even when I've done everything I'm supposed to do, I still get them with running. Because of that, plus the fact that I don't really even enjoy running, I don't run much any more. I'll do sprints and generally the rest cycle helps me to recover from the stitches if I get them.

But, if you're determined, probably the best tip I received was making sure I got a full inhale and exhale when breathing. That took some practice to get a good rhythm going for me. Also being hydrated, as in habitually hydrated. Hangovers and cramming my water intake in when I remembered, generally didn't help.

I used to suffer from stitches but found deep breathing really helps. I breath through nose and hold for 2-3 seconds then exhale slowing through mouth and wait another 2-3 seconds before inhaling again......it really works

you have to give us a bit more details than that.it could be that your breathing technique is wrong, you drink too much before working out, you drink too little before going out, you're pushing yourself too hard. All those could be reasons for getting a stitch, so figure out the reason, fix it and they should stop.

If it's when running, you're breathing too fast and too shallow. Controlled deep breathing will stop stitches happening, if necessary, slow your pace down.
