Where did you read that bread is a no-no in a weight loss pursuit? Maybe they meant white bread as opposed to whole wheat bread. Your body needs its carbs as fuel.

But if you insist on banishing bread for breakfast, eating oatmeal is a great alternative. If you buy the unsweetened, unflavored one, you skip the unnecessary sugars and artificial flavors. Then, you add your own spices, nuts, dairy or berries. I but walnut and strawberry slices in mine!

I am gluten free and I usually have:

fruit -any / favorite is apple with peanut butter
    granola bar
    eggs
    bacon
    tater tots
    turkey
    almonds
    smoothies

Just takes a little planning but you will get use to it.

a smaller portion of bread? I like the village/country hearth light bread and it actually has some protein in it.

If there's no reason for you to eliminate bread from your diet, why would you. If you don't like bread, don't eat it. But 99% of people, can lose fat while eating bread.

I like Aunt Millies: Whole Wheat, Low-Cal. Only 70cals for 2 slices.

I don't eat any bread or cereal at the moment. I'm not gluten intolerant I don't think I just find my weight loss better when I eat as little wheat as possible. Yes I miss it but I like gluten free oat cakes. I top them with PB at breakfast or to dip in eggs. I have them with cheese or ham for lunch, I dip them in soup in winter or have them with philly and jam for a sweet snack.

I eat bread/grain with every meal and have had no problem losing weight. Whole grains and portion size are everything.

If you don't want grain though, I'd go with eggs, yogurt, and fruit. If you've got time you can make yourself a killer omelette with plenty of veggies and some cheese and salsa. Or on the go grab a yogurt and banana or apple. Not too hard.

There are a ton of choices that don't include having bread for breakfast. Here's some ideas (sorry if they repeat previous posts):
    -cottage cheese and fruit
    -omelet or egg scramble
-leftovers from previous night dinner - breakfast doesn't have to include traditional breakfast foods
    -turkey sausage
-yogurt (I suggest buying plain and flavoring with your favorite berries)
    -cheese stick
-egg white crepes sweet style (I add cinnamon and make a thin crepe then warm a banana and place in the middle of crepe and roll. Top with a small dollop of nut butter or sugar free jelly)
-sweet potato roasted then topped w/ small amount of pecans, cinnamon and sugar free syrup
    -hard boiled eggs
    -tofu scramble with diced veggies
-protein pancake (egg whites, pure pumpkin, spices, small handful of oatmeal. Mix and prepare like a pancake)
-smoothies (100's of options here - don't be afraid to toss some greens such as spinach or kale in them - promis you won't taste them)

Mix and match based on your calorie needs

    Hope this helps!

Most mornings I make a scramble of diced zucchini, diced onion, tomato, eggs (and egg whites) and green onion all topped with salsa. You can choose to do an omelette with similar ingredients too. I do a ham and cheese one sometimes. I have never been a big bread person for breakfast though, eggs are a mainstay of mine.
