I have never been much of a water drinker.

For decades, all I was drinking was mostly soda. The majority of that was regular soda, until 1996 when I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2, then switched to diet soda.
I have stopped drinking any soda on January 25th, 2013.
All I drink now is mostly seltzer water or regular water, with a few beers here and there once a week or every other week.
I have to force myself to drink the recommended 8 glasses of water every day. I know the importance that water has to keep you body healthy. I thought by cutting out the soda, that it would make me more thirsty, but it has made less thirsty. I used to drink at least two of the two liter bottles of diet soda. Now I can barely make 6 glasses of water.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

i drink mine at room temperature. made all the difference for me. i get down about a gallon a day. i also found a bigger than normal glass so i don't have to refill it every two seconds.
people will likely tell you to flavor it with cucumber slices or lemon, or mio and a bunch of other stuff. plus there is the ever enjoyable debate as what actually counts as water...

I drink sparkly water. I add lemon slices to it (like knightreader said) and it feels like I'm having lemonade.0

The water recommendation is just that a recommendation it is not a rule. Everyone has different bodies we are all individuals and need different things. Also the water recommendation is total water, remember there is water in everything you eat, lettuce is almost all water, watermelon has water. You don't just have to drink water milk, juice, tea, coffee all has water and can be counted toward your daily goal. Now coffee and to a lesser extent tea can have diuretic effects which is why many people don't substitute coffee for water and the same with alcoholic drinks.
Your environment also plays in to your daily goal, if you were living in the desert you would need more water then a person living in the humid east coast.0 -
I drink most of my water during a workout....i chug the stuff lol...i like to flavor my water with a no calorie sweetner and other flavorings....i love kool aid and stevia...i know some people say it dont count but to me it counts! It all about your preference.0
